New Fort Worth IT services company debuts by saving tax day!

 Advotech, LLC, a Fort Worth, Texas IT services company, assists a local Tax preparation agency migrating sensitive data and securing wireless systems as its first assignment.

Day three with the doors open and I was called by a local tax preparer's office. They were having some connectivity issues with wireless systems and wanted Advotech to solve the problems. When our technician arrived onsite, the phone was thrust at him to decipher troubleshooting efforts by the local Internet Service Provider. Internet access was confirmed operational in short order and work began to discover and solve the problems at hand. The network onsite was an unsecured wireless network with multiple hardware vendors designed by an average user. One of the wireless network cards was internal to a MAC laptop and was incompatible with the access point. None of the various systems could negotiate a secure channel with the existing access point due to varying hardware manufacturer standards for Wired Equivalency Protocol and older devices inability to recognize Wi-Fi Protected Access. Pointing out the security and liability risks in broadcasting tax preparation in the clear, we were tasked to resolve that issue too. After migrating the business' books and tax preparation data to a system with access so that work could proceed, we replaced the access point, two wireless network cards, established secure communications, and migrated client systems one at a time until the tax preparer's systems were all on the same network and able to share their data and printers as desired in a secure wireless environment. The clients were very pleased with the courteous, professional work and results. The tax preparer's clients would be pleased too, if they knew, that their data is now secure.
