In my professional opinion, I believe AMD's price point difference and compatibility for the last 3 years make them a good purchase choice for experienced computer builders. Okay, so I like the underdog sometimes, but that doesn't mean I'm stuck on them. If you need a system that doesn't require some minor planning for hardware, then go with Intel. If price and performance are your key issues, AMD will deliver the most bang for the buck. The only thing that might change this recommendation is if you wanted a bleeding edge performance box, then you just choose whichever company has the hottest chip at the moment.
