The new Microsoft Windows Vista OS has been around long enough for a few people to have kicked the tires. We have had systems under testing and training since the first Beta release. There are plenty of places to read reviews, but what about the average users and businesses that Advotech supports? In my view, Vista is not quite ready for the average user from a hardware support perspective, and really needs some additional validation work for any business deployment to ensure compatibility, stability, and security. Right now, Vista adoption must be carefully planned to ensure existing applications and hardware function. It also needs to be carefully examined for special security and operation needs for businesses. Don't forget that there will be some training requirements too! My advice is to wait for the first service pack before adopting Vista. Perhaps by then, there'll even be enough 64 bit device drivers available to make migrating from XP to Vista provide an actual performance gain for some existing systems. For now, our advice is to hold short until the first service pack, plan carefully, train your people, and test thoroughly before deploying on a critical system. Having said all of that, Advotech stands ready to help all of the new Vista users and those that want to deploy Vista accomplish their goals. We will not hold it against you for adopting early and have enough experience with Vista and Office 2007 to support you today.
