I just had to describe my favorite network cabling disaster. A client called wanting assistance in fixing intermittent Internet failures. Upon arriving I found that the afflicted systems cabling was run through a window to the outside of the building and back to the router through another window. Both windows were closed as tightly as possible across the cables. This resulted in some severe crimping of the cables which substantially degraded performance. All cables had to be rerun and a few network interface adapters were not performing well anymore.
